Mechanical Pressure Gauges: Essential Instruments for Accurate Pressure Measurement

Mechanical pressure gauges are critical instruments used to measure and indicate pressure above the environment. They employ elastic components, such as Bourdon tubes, film boxes, and corrugated tubes, to sense pressure changes. These gauges are integral in various industrial processes and scientific research, including heat pipe networks, oil and gas transmission, water supply systems, and vehicle maintenance.

Operating Principle

Mechanical pressure gauges function by converting the elastic deformation of sensing elements into a rotational movement of the pointer. As pressure changes, the Bourdon tube or other sensing elements deform, causing the pointer to move and display the pressure level.

Key Components and Features

  • Overflow Hole: This safety feature releases internal pressure in the event of a Bourdon tube burst, preventing damage to the glass panel. To ensure proper function, maintain at least 10mm of space behind the gauge.
  • Pointer: Options include standard or custom pointers, tailored to specific needs.
  • Glass Panel: Choose from standard glass, reinforced glass, or non-reflective glass depending on the application.
  • Throttle Valve (Optional): Installed at the pressure inlet to minimize pulsating pressure and enhance measurement stability.

Performance Classifications

  • Standard Type: Suitable for general use.
  • Steam Use Type (M): Specifically designed for steam applications.
  • Heat-Resistant Type (H): Ideal for high-temperature environments.
  • Vibration-Resistant Type (V): Built to withstand vibration.
  • Vibration-Resistant Steam Use Type (MV): Combines vibration resistance with steam use capability.

Additional Treatments and Options

  • Oil/Water Ban Treatment: Removes residual water or oil from the gauge during manufacturing to ensure optimal performance.
  • Shell Color: Available in various colors upon request.

Robust Construction and Accuracy

Our mechanical pressure gauges feature a durable 304 stainless steel case and crimped ring, making them resilient in diverse environments. The brass connection and movement are designed to handle non-corrosive media and resist vibration and pulsation.

With an accuracy rating of ±3-2-3% and a glycerin-filled design, these gauges provide precise measurements while reducing the impact of vibration and pulsation. The glycerin not only enhances accuracy but also extends the gauge's operational life by lubricating the internal components.

Applications

Mechanical pressure gauges are widely used across industries, including heat pipe networks, oil and gas transmission, water supply systems, and vehicle maintenance. Their high mechanical strength and ease of production make them a preferred choice for industrial process control and technical measurement.
